After reading this week’s posted content and listening to this week’s episode of the Fly on the Wall Project, carefully consider the following questions and choose one to answer in its entirety.
Each question may be answered by only 3 students. It is your responsibility to check all posts and select a question which has not already been answered by 3 of your peers. Please include the number of the question you are answering in the subject line of your post so the rest of the class may easily identify which questions have been answered.
Remember, you must have reviewed the week’s content in order to adequately participate in the Discussion Forum. In your post, incorporate the content into your response where applicable, and consider the principles of the Community Support System (CSS) model (e.g. flexibility; special needs, such as jail diversion; accountability; coordination) and the functions of Case Management (i.e. assessment, planning, linking, monitoring, evaluating) when posting your response.

- What are some of the early warning signs you’ve noticed with Michela in the last two episodes? Name at least 2 and talk about why you see them as warning signs.
- Derek employed several Motivational Interviewing techniques this week. Identify at least two that he used and talk about why he used those techniques.
- What’s one thing Derek did well in his interaction with Michela. How would you have handled the situation differently if you were Derek?
- Based on how the interaction ended, what would be the next two steps you’d take with Michela if you were Derek?
